Accessory dwelling units
ADU builder in San Diego
A backyard home for a parent, a grown child, or rental income. We handle the design, the engineering, the city, and the build, so you deal with one team from the first sketch to the keys.
ADUs we build
Detached ADUs
A separate small home in the backyard, with its own entry, kitchen, and bath.
Attached ADUs
A self-contained unit joined to your house, sharing a wall but not your living space.
Garage conversions
Turn an existing garage into a finished, permitted living unit. See our garage conversion page.
ADUs above a garage
A unit built over a new or existing garage, where the lot and city rules allow it.
Why families build an ADU
Most of our ADU clients want to keep family close without giving up privacy: a parent who should not live alone anymore, a son or daughter back after college, or a relative recovering from an injury who needs single-level living.
Others are investors who want more from a property they already own. Either way, the questions at the start are the same: what your lot allows, what the city will ask for, and what it will take to build. Our free feasibility visit answers them for your address.
What we take care of
Feasibility
We look at lot size, setbacks, utilities, access, and any special zoning on your property.
Design and 3D renderings
Our architects draw the plans, and you see the unit in 3D before anything is built.
Engineering and permits
Our engineers and permit expediters prepare the drawings and take them through the city.
Construction
One project manager runs the job, with daily updates and screened, supervised trades.

Common questions
Can I build an ADU on my lot?
Most single-family lots in San Diego County can have at least one ADU, but the details depend on your lot, utilities, and local rules. We check this for free during the first visit.
How much does an ADU cost?
It depends on the type of ADU, the finish level, and your property. After the free consultation you get a detailed, itemized estimate for your project.
Do you handle the permits?
Yes. Our own permit expediters prepare the submission and work through city comments until the permit is issued.
I already have approved ADU plans. Can you build them?
Yes. We are happy to build to your approved plans and permits as the construction company.
